HOW THOUGHTS AFFECT ENERGY

Your thoughts create energy. I’m going to throw a concept out that may be new to you, but it perfectly illustrates this point. That concept is applied kinesiology, also known as “muscle testing,” which was pioneered by Dr. George Goodheart. Wayne Dyer, an internationally known author and speaker in the field of self-development (and an ~ing Girl fave!), does a great job of explaining the concept when he says that “behind every thought is energy.” According to applied kinesiology, when you think higher thoughts, such as love, kindness and joy, your energy is stronger. Alternatively, when your thoughts are focused on lower-level emotions, such as sadness, fear or anger, your energy is weakened.

To visually prove this concept during my lectures, I’ll often invite a brave stranger from the audience to act as my human visual aid. I ask her to hold her arm out horizontally and resist as I press down on it. Before I press down, I ask her to think of something positive and loving. Then, when I press her arm down, she has a strong resistance to my pressure and her arm is unmovable. Next, I ask her to think of something that makes her fearful or upset. This time, when I apply pressure, her arm goes weak and drops to her side. This exercise is a powerful way of physically portraying how your thoughts inform your energy. There is no comparison between the strength of my volunteer’s arm when she thinks happy thoughts and when she thinks negatively. Within seconds of changing her mind, her energy shifts from strong and powerful to weak and limp.

Furthermore, your thoughts do not only affect your own energy. All thoughts transmute energy outward. Negative thoughts are toxic and send nasty vibrations into the Universe. These vibrations are picked up by everyone around you. This is the concept of the Universal Law of Attraction, which teaches that like attracts like. The theory is that your lower-level vibration is attracted to other lower-level vibrations. (A lower-level vibration is akin to a negative thought.) The same goes for positive vibrations. Your positive thoughts produce stronger energy that in turn attracts more positive experiences.

Many people are unaware of their attracting power and therefore have spent a lifetime being naive about how their negative thoughts affect them. Think about it. I’m sure you know people who are always worrying. These types of people are constantly attracting more things to worry about as a result of their worried state. A day filled with worry may lead them to trip on the sidewalk and break their leg. This shows that their obsessive worrying whipped their energy into a frenzy, at which point they were moving so fast that they fell. Worry is a prayer for chaos. When your mind is stuck in a pattern of chaos, that is all you will experience. The difference between the strength of higher-level thoughts and the weakness of lower-level thoughts is dramatic. In Lauren’s case, it was the difference between leaving work with a job and leaving work jobless.
